52 Ancestors: #48 - Stephen Whitenack (abt 1800 KY - 1829 IN)





                Stephen Whitenack was born about 1800, probably in Mercer County, Kentucky. He was the son of Henry Whitenack and Eva Jane Terhune Whitenack. Whitenack has been spelled many ways, including five different spellings in one will.

                Stephen married Catherine VanDiver, or Van Der Veer, or Van Dever, or, or, or…. They had two children.

                Eva Jane Whitenack was born in November 1822 in Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky.  She married Josiah Drake in 1845 in Johnson County,Indiana.  They had at least 7 children.  Eva died on 29 June 1893 in Johnson County, Indian and was buried in Shiloh Cemetery in Johnson County.

                Lana Ann Whitenack was born on 7 August 1825 in Ohio, probably Brown County. She married Jonathan Edward Young in 1846, probably in Indiana.  They had at least nine children. Lana died in 1884 and is buried in Kirwin Cemetery, in Kirwin, Kansas.

                Stephen died in 1829 in Johnson County, Indiana.

52 Ancestors - #47 - Susannah Mitchell (1804 PA -1895 IN)





                Susannah Mitchell was born in November 1804 I Alleghany County, Pennslyvania to Amos Mitchell and Mary “Polly” Hillman. She married Gideon Drake on 30 October 1822 in Brown County, Ohio. 

                Gideon Drake and Susannah had at least ten children.

                Josiah Drake (1824-1915) who married Eva Jane Whitenack. I wrote a blog just on these two.

Amos Drake was born in 1826 in Johnson County. He married Martha Brian about 1846. They had at least four children. Amos died in 1914 and is buried in Brian Cemetery in Martinsville, Indiana.

Hiram Drake was born in January 1828 in Indiana. Hiram married Indiana Hayden about 1852 in Indiana. I believe they had three children and Indiana died in 1859. She is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Johnson County, Indiana. Hiram then married Clara Armstrong in October 1860 in Johnson County, Indian.  They had one son, William Edgar Drake. In 1892 I believe Hiram then married Mary Ballenger Hann. Hiram died about 1903.

Polly Drake was born about 1832. I know nothing else about her.

John Drake may have been a twin of Polly. He was also born about 1832. He married Mary Jane Parks about 1858 and they had at least six children. John died in 1896 in Greensburg, Indiana and is buried in South Park Cemetery, Decatur County, Indiana.
               
Wesley Drake was born I January 1834 in Indiana. Wesley married Margaret Fitzpatrick in May 1859 in Johnson County, Indiana. She died soon thereafter; perhaps during childbirth. He married Susan McClain about 1861 in Indiana and they had at least three children. Wesley died in 1907 in Franklin, Indiana.

                Permelia was born in 1836 in Indiana. She married Christopher Columbus Burns in December 1854 in Johnson County, Indiana. I don’t believe they had any children.

                Charlotte Drake was born in January 1838 in Indiana. She married John Ballard in January 1859, probably in Indiana. They had at least four children. Charlotte died in 1913 in Franklin, Indiana, and she is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin, Indiana.

                Joseph Drake was born in May 1840 in Johnson County, Indiana. Me married Melissa Doble about 1861. They had at least two children. Joseph died I 1915 and is buried in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg, Indiana.

Gideon Drake was born in 1845 in Indiana. I believe he married three times. Sarah M. Ralston about 1872 and Mary E. Moore about 1880 are two. He may have married Alice, last name and date unknown. I believe that Gideon had at least five children from the three wives. He died sometime after 1880, probably in Indiana.

Susannah died about 1895 in Indiana.

52 Ancestors: #46 - Eva Jane Whitenack (1822 KY -1893 IN)




Eva Jane Whitenack was born in November 1822 in Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky.  She married Josiah Drake in 1845 in Johnson County, Indiana. 

Eva Jane and Josiah Drake had at least seven children.

William Gideon Drake was born in June 1846 in Indiana. I believe he married a woman whose last name was Appleby. I have not been able to discover her first name. William had at least two children: William Ward Drake born about 1875 and Elizabeth M. Drake born about 1876. William Gideon Drake died after 1921.

Henry Drake was born in January 1848 in Indiana. I believe he married Katie Ryan, sometime before 1880. They had three children. Henry died in April 1895 in Indiana and is buried in Crown Hill National Cemetery.

Robert Marshal Drake was born in January 1850 and died in October 1850, both in Indiana.

Catherine Drake was born in July 1851 in Indiana. She married Rodman Coons in December in Franklin, Indiana. I don’t believe that they had any children. Catherine died in February 1921 in Indiana and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Johnson County, Indiana.

Martha Ellen Drake was born in December 1853 in Indiana. She married James N. Landsberry in Johnson County, Indiana in 1882. I don’t know if they had any children. Martha died after 1921.

Margaret Ann Drake was born in December 1860 in Franklin, Indiana. She married Sheldon Griffin in 1881 in Johnson County, Indiana. I don’t believe they had any children. She died in 1935 in Wichita, Kansas.

Luna “Lena” Estelle Drake was born on 20 February 1867 in Franklin, Indiana. She married Charles Yancy Trice in January 1891. They had three daughters, one of whom died at age 10. Luna died in 1938 in Lamar, Barton County, Missouri and she is buried in Lake Cemetery, in Lamar.

Eva died on 29 June 1893 in Johnson County, Indiana and is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, in Johnson County, Indiana.
